Takoma Park Street Festival

ALL HANDS ON DECK!

Greetings Pack 33!

Please mark your calendars and sign up to volunteer for a 2-hour shift at the Cub Scout Carnival at the Takoma Park Street Festival on Sunday October 6

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need full participation from parents and scouts. By running the carnival, our kids have the opportunity to demonstrate a number of Cub Scout values (trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind). Plus - it’s GREAT FUN!!  In addition, this fundraiser allows us to offer great programming like campouts and the Pinewood Derby and to provide camperships and dues assistance to families whose children would not otherwise be able to participate.

STREET FESTIVAL INSTRUCTIONS AND LOGISTICS

Cub Scouts should wear CLASS A uniforms. The carnival will be located next to the gazebo along Carroll Avenue across from Roscoe’s Pizzeria. Carroll Avenue and the surrounding streets will be closed to traffic so allow plenty of time to make your way through the crowds to arrive 10 minutes before your shift time. There is some overlap between shifts to allow for the transfer of knowledge and duties from shift to shift.

SMALL TOY DONATIONS NEEDED

We need lots of small toys for prizes. We are asking families to search their toy bins for small toys in good condition that will bring joy to younger kids. Please bring donations to your next den meeting, or drop them off in the plastic bin on my front porch at: 7313 Maple Ave Takoma Park, MD 20912.

Examples of great toys prizes are: small matchbox cars, superhero figurines, bouncy balls, small stuffed animals, etc. Toys should be clean and not broken; too large to swallow; no larger than what a child can hold in one hand; not require batteries. All unused toys will be donated to local charities and low-income families. This effort supports the Cub Scouts observe the law of thriftiness, the value resourcefulness, and in fulfilling their environmental pledge to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
